Rifle, CO – Glenwood Republican Martin Beeson today announced the suspension of his campaign to unseat incumbent Democrat John Salazar in Colorado’s 3rd congressional district.
“Victory is within reach in 2010,” said Beeson. “By ‘victory’ I do not mean a selfish, narrow, personal pursuit of power – that’s what the other side is all about, and that’s why the American people are ready to turn them out,” Beeson asserted.
“I’m talking about a victory that transcends the tired, worn liberal ideology that has had the run of Washington lately,” Beeson continued. “The families and taxpayers of the 3rd congressional district need and deserve an honest, proven, Republican leader who will fight every step of the way for lower taxes and balanced budgets; for smaller, less intrusive, and more honest government; for energy and environmental policies that serve the people who inhabit this planet; for the primacy of free men and women acting independently in free markets to create, invest and grow wealth; and for the right of every person – born and unborn – to live securely in their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” Beeson said.
“The central idea of my campaign since its inception has been, and continues to be, victory of the kind that best serves the people of this district, and that I must do everything in my power to secure this victory,” Beeson said. “In my view, a primary campaign between Republican candidates who believe in the same fundamental truths, and who have the very best interests of the voters of the third district as their first and only objective, will place this victory at risk. Scott Tipton is a solid, reliable, and respected member of our community, and someone that I trust with public power and the public purse. I believe he will make a fine Member of the United States House of Representatives after the 2010 election, and he has my full support,” Beeson said.
“It is now time for me to focus on representing the people of the 9th Judicial District as District Attorney, and to lend my support to Scott Tipton as well as to Scott McInnis in the Gubernatorial race to ensure victory next November. I look forward to continuing to serve my constituents and the people of Colorado in the years to come,” Beeson concluded.
